Commonwealth International University

Professionalism, Integrity, Accountability

Greetings from the President

Welcome to the English website for Commonwealth International University and its institutions of higher education, located in Simferopol, Crimea, Ukraine.

We have a fifteen year history that has seen many changes. It all started with a ‘joint venture’ between Kentucky Christian College (now University) and Crimean College in 1993. We seek to combine the best in the educational systems of two countries, yet meeting the requirements of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine for licensing and accreditation. We want to be a bridge of good will and cooperation between two nations – and to be a bridge for the Christian worldview.

Our primary partnership in the US is with Kentucky Christian University. We share curriculum and faculty when possible. Over forty of our students have spent at least a semester abroad at KCU or in other institutions which belong to the International Alliance of Christian Colleges and Universities. We welcome other partnerships.

Commonwealth International University’s leadership is provided by its founders and a volunteer Board of Trustees composed of American and Ukrainian Christians.

Most of our faculty members are Ukrainian. Most of the courses are taught in Russian or Ukrainian, the rest in English. We would like to have more teachers from North America and Europe to teach English (written and spoken), English Bible, German – and now business.

Commonwealth International University’s Institute of International Business started offering classes last year (2009). An American faculty of experienced businesspersons and teachers is being gathered to provide modular courses leading to a minor or major in international business administration. The combination of English and German with Business should greatly enhance the employment options for our graduates, especially with companies that deal internationally. Internships will complement the academic process.

We seek to live out a philosophy of education that is built on a Christian worldview. Commonwealth International University’s philosophy of education is holistic. That is, we believe that education should address more than particular knowledge and skills but the whole person. Together, intellectual and moral virtues play a major role in the life of the student and what kind of employee and citizen he or she will become. In all that we do, we emphasize mutual respect, accountability, responsibility, professionalism and integrity. The influence of Judeo-Christian values and morals is often observed and remarked by parents!

Our website is still under construction. Visit our web site from time to time and see how we are growing – growing our web site, growing our institutes, growing our students.
